Welcome to South Broadview
South Broadview Elementary is a vibrant K–5 school in Salmon Arm, cherished by our community for its welcoming atmosphere and strong relationships. Our facility includes ten classrooms, a spacious gym, a well-located library, a multi-purpose room, and a dedicated music room.
Programs That Inspire
We’re proud to offer enriching programs that support student learning and growth:
- Literacy Support: Our One-to-One Children’s Literacy Program supports 14 students, while our early intervention reading program helps 15 students build strong reading skills.
- The Hive: A weekly after-school program in partnership with Shuswap Immigration Services Society, the City of Salmon Arm, and SD83. Students develop English language skills through stories, songs, games, and art in a fun, conversational setting.
- StrongStart: A popular early learning program with 87 registered children and up to 20 attending daily.

Healthy Living Initiatives
We prioritize student wellness through:
- Daily Physical Education in every classroom
- Feeding Futures fruit and veggie program
- Monthly Hot Lunches sponsored by PAC
- Breakfast & Lunch Support: Our Meal Worker serves breakfast to 55–60 students daily, prepares lunch for 10, and provides additional snacks to 15–20 students each day. This program is supported by PAC, Salmon Arm and Shuswap Rotary Clubs, and the provincial Feeding Futures initiative.
Family & Community Engagement
Our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) plays a vital role in school life, organizing events, offering valuable feedback, and providing financial support. Monthly meetings (in-person and virtual) are attended by 8–10 dedicated members who help make South Broadview a thriving learning community.
Our Diverse School Community
South Broadview is home to 216 students in the 2025/26 school year, with a balanced gender ratio. Our diverse student body includes:
- 13% Indigenous ancestry
- 15% with special needs (61% low incidence, 10% high incidence, 29% behavioral/mental health)
- Families from Canada and countries including India, Jamaica, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Syria, and Turkey
- 17 students receiving English Language Learning support

- Teacher-Librarian: 1 (0.45 FTE)
- Certified Education Assistants: 9 (255 hrs/week)
- Administrative Assistant: 1 (35 hrs/week)
- Custodians: 2 (55 hrs/week)
Itinerant staff include a Speech & Language Pathologist, Counsellor, ELL Teacher, and Indigenous Education Worker (19.5 hrs/week). The principal serves 0.9 FTE in administration and 0.1 FTE in classroom teaching.
